Sales Arborist

Job Summary

​

The Sales Arborist is responsible for completing sales of COVA Tree products and services through in-person, phone and online sales. This role requires a blend of arboriculture knowledge and sales acumen to educate clients, develop care plans, and drive revenue growth.

​​

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Consultation & Sales: Meet with residential clients to assess tree health, diagnose issues, and recommend appropriate services.

  • Customer Education: Explain the benefits of proper tree care, the value of long-term maintenance, and COVA Tree’s approach to sustainability and preservation.

  • Lead Generation: Build relationships with homeowners through networking, referrals, and community involvement.

  • Follow-up & Relationship Management: Maintain communication with clients throughout the sales and job cycle, ensuring a positive customer experience.

  • Stay Updated: Keep up with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in arboriculture, plant health care, and integrated pest management.
     

Qualifications
 

  • ISA Certified Arborist (or ability to obtain within 3 months).

  • 3+ years of experience in tree work, tree care consulting, or sales.

  • Strong knowledge of tree biology, pruning techniques, pest/disease management, and risk assessment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage leads, follow-ups, and close sales.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.

Plant Health Tech

Job Summary

​​​

The Plant Health Care Technician is responsible for treating  and preventing tree and shrub health issues. Experience in leadership or management is a plus, as this role offers opportunities for career advancement into a supervisory or managerial position.

​​

Key Responsibilities

​​

  • Pest & Disease Control: Apply insecticides, fungicides, and other control measures as needed.

  • Fertilization & Soil Health: Implement deep root fertilization, soil amendments, and other treatments to improve tree and shrub vigor.

  • Spray & Injection Applications: Safely apply treatments using sprayers, soil injectors, and trunk injection methods.

  • Customer Education: Explain treatment plans and tree care recommendations to clients in a clear, professional manner.

  • Equipment & Safety Compliance: Properly maintain equipment and follow safety procedures when handling chemicals and operating machinery.

  • Team Leadership (Optional Growth Opportunity): Potential to train and mentor new PHC technicians, manage schedules, and assist with program development.

Qualifications

​​

  • 1+ years of experience in plant health care, tree health diagnostics, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of tree biology, common pests/diseases, and pest management.

  • Experience in applying pesticides, fungicides, and fertilizers.

  • ISA Certified Arborist or Colorado Pesticide Applicator’s License (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and manage time efficiently.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to educate clients on plant health care.

  • Management experience is a plus, or willingness to step into a leadership role.

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Groundworker

Job Summary

The Groundworker is responsible for assisting tree crews in rigging, clean-up, and job site safety. This role is essential to supporting climbers and equipment operators while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities

​

  • Job Site Support: Assist climbers and arborists by handling ropes, rigging, and equipment.

  • Debris Cleanup: Use rakes, blowers, and chipper machines to clear job sites efficiently.

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate chainsaws, chippers, and other tools under supervision.

  • Safety Compliance: Follow company safety protocols and assist with job site hazard management.

  • Teamwork: Work closely with the crew to ensure a smooth and productive work environment.

Qualifications

​

  • Passion for working outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

  • Previous experience in tree care, landscaping, or construction is a plus but not required.

  • Valid driver’s license (preferred).

Tree Climber

Job Summary
 

We are seeking highly skilled and safety-conscious experienced Tree Climbers to join our team. The ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of arboriculture practices, experience safely leading a crew, while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.

​

Key Responsibilities

 

Safely and efficiently lead a crew, climb trees using ropes, harnesses, and other climbing equipment to perform tree pruning and removal tasks for residential, commercial, and municipal properties.

 

  • Assess tree health and structure, making recommendations for care and removal as needed.

  • Safely operate and maintain tree care equipment, including chainsaws, stump grinders, and other tools.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry best practices to ensure personal and team safety.

  • Work in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding tree care and removal.

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure timely completion of projects.

  • Maintain a clean and organized job site, including proper disposal of tree debris.

  • Provide excellent customer service, maintaining professional communication with clients and homeowners.

  • Assist in training junior tree climbers and other crew members.​

 

Qualifications

​​

  • Minimum of 1 years of professional tree climbing and arboricultural experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of tree care practices, including pruning, trimming, and removal techniques.

  • Proficiency with tree climbing equipment (e.g., ropes, harnesses, spikes, chainsaws).

  • Experience with rigging and working in close proximity to structures.

  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate various tree care tools and machinery.

  • Willingness to mentor and learn from your teammates.

  • Project management skills to ensure efficient and safe completion of jobs, coordinating crews working in different areas of a property.

  • Valid Colorado driver’s.

  • ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certification or equivalent is preferred, but not required.

  • Excellent physical condition with the ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a team.

  • Ability to assess and mitigate safety risks on the job site.

  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and customer service.
